DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to a discussion evening on Thursday 19 October 2023 @ PHOBIANS Club, 378 Queen’s Crescent, Lynnwood, Pretoria, 18h00 for 18h30.\nThe discussion evening is an initiative of PhilCofEast – Philosophy Coffee in the East (of Pretoria)\nOur theme topic: “CoalitionReality – Mirage, Courage?”, will be discussed by Dr Theuns\nEloff, Academic and Business leader, speaking in his personal capacity.\nWillie Snyman will introduce the speaker and will guide the discussion interaction:\nSome information snippets about Theuns:\n– Born 17 May 1955. Studied at Potchefstroom Gimnasium and the Potchefstroom University.\n– Active in student politics and served as SRC Chairman.\n– Played as rugby centre for Western Transvaal (The “Mielieboere”). Avoided the right wing position as much as possible.\n– Served as Dominee in the Gereformeerde Kerk, Pretoria Brooklyn.\n– Attended the Dakar discussions with the ANC in 1987.\n– Resigned as Minister and became the CEO of the Consultative Business Movement (CBM), facilitating the CODESA process.\n– Served as CEO of the National Business Initiative (NBI) till 2002 when he became Vice-Chancellor and Rector of the Potchefstroom University, managing its transition into the North-West University (NWU).\n– Since 2014 he serves as Chairman of Astral Foods as well as many (very many) Boards, Foundations and Trusts. He is also well published as socio-political commentator.\n– He lives in Pretoria East with Suzette (the love of his life and the voice of Hotel 224).\nPhilCofEast, a community initiative, aims to establish a discussion platform for hot topical affairs with a spicy philosophical flavour. Held in the East of Pretoria but for all from everywhere.
