DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to a discussion evening on Thursday 22 August 2024 @ PHOBIANS Club, 378 Queen’s Crescent, Lynnwood, Pretoria, 18h00 for 18h30.\nThe discussion evening is an initiative of PhilCofEast – Philosophy Coffee in the East (of Pretoria)\nSakkie Spangenberg, Theologian and Bible fundi/expert, will be in discussion with Willie Snyman about his new book “Die Bybel, die Christelike godsdiens en die waarheid”.  There will be ample opportunity for questions from the audience.\n– Sakkie was born in Benoni and grew up in Germiston where he attended primary and secondary school.\n– Sakkie started his studies at the University of Stellenbosch. He studied the Bible, the history and religion of ancient Israel as well as the history of the Christian religion for more than fifty years.\n– He lectured in Biblical Studies at the Rand Afrikaans University (now the University of Johannesburg) for eight years (1979–1986), and Old Testament at the University of South Africa for twenty nine years (1987–2016). He received the Unisa Chancellor’s Prize for Research in 1999. He is the author of various publications and books.\n– Although he retired in 2016 he is still involved with research. He is an avid birdwatcher as well as an amateur geologist. He is married to Dina and they have two sons, two daughters in law and four grandchildren.\nPhilCofEast, a community initiative, aims to establish a discussion platform for hot topical affairs with a spicy philosophical flavour. Held in the East of Pretoria but for all from everywhere.
