You are cordially invited to a discussion evening on Thursday 21 September 2023 @ PHOBIANS Club, 378 Queen’s Crescent, Lynnwood, Pretoria, 18h00 for 18h30.

The discussion evening is an initiative of PhilCofEast – Philosophy Coffee in the East (of Pretoria)

Our theme topic: “CoalitionReality – Mirage, Courage?”, will be discussed by Johann Rossouw, Professor in Philosophy at the University of the Free State, speaking in his personal capacity.

Some information snippets about Johann:

– Johann Rossouw (1970- ) studied at the universities of Pretoria, South Africa, Lyon-3 and Monash (Melbourne), where he obtained his doctorate in 2013 about the work of Bernard Stiegler.
– He is the author of more than 600 newspaper columns and articles in national and international publications.
– He also published several translations from French in Afrikaans. The latest, the novel vernietig, from France’s most influential and prominent romancier, Michel Houellebecq, will be published by Naledi shortly.
– Rossouw also wrote three novels. The latest, Sluitstuk, was published recently by Umuzi.
– He is professor in philosophy at the University of the Free State and priest of the Orthodox Mission Community of the Holy Apostle Thomas in Bloemfontein, where Johann lives with his family.

PhilCofEast, a community initiative, aims to establish a discussion platform for hot topical affairs with a spicy philosophical flavour. Held in the East of Pretoria but for all from everywhere. For old and young and for all orientations and cultures.
